Canada’s coastline stretches over 243,000 kilometers – from the west coast of BC over the north and through to the shores of the Maritimes. It’s the world’s longest coastline and protecting sovereignty would be nearly impossible without the help of aircraft, ingenuity and legendary men and women.

Western Canada Aviation Museum’s new exhibit – Canada’s Coastal Patrol illustrates how innovative and enterprising Canada’s aviators have been. Whether looking out for Prohibition era rum runners, WW II German U-boats to icebergs hindering today’s ship traffic, this exhibit tells the story of how Canadians used a wide variety of patrol aircraft during peace time and at war.

The exhibit covers the innovations, technology and airmen that have risen to the challenge.
